After 15 years of failed leadership by its mayors the City of North Las Vegas sits on the brink of a state takeover. First as a Councilwoman and now as mayor, Shari Buck has led her city to a disaster with solutions that are not in the best interests of our community.
Now, between the mayor and her hand picked team of administrators, they want to have hard-working city employees pay the price for their fiscal irresponsibility. When times were good and booming this administration owed it to the citizens to have a plan in place for economic hardship.
Buck’s administration is now threatening to declare a ‘State of Emergency’ to suspend portions of contracts that were negotiated with the North Las Vegas Police Officers Association, the International Association of Fire Fighters #1677 and Teamsters Local #14 in good faith means that no one can trust the word of the City of North Las Vegas. While Ms. Buck has enjoyed the lavish perks of a city on the rise she owes the community that the city do what is honorable by its citizens by meeting its commitments. Ms. Buck’s failure to do so threatens to throw our entire region deeper into recession hurting our entire community.
Revenue challenges in North Las Vegas are no different than the rest of the Valley, but other municipalities have been able to balance their budgets by PROACTIVELY working with their Unions and Employees to work through the Financial Crisis without needing to resort to ‘States of Emergency’ or looking to the State for leadership.
The Clark County Democratic Party stands with the hard working employees of North Las Vegas in this time of fiscal mismanagement and support the efforts of labor unions to enforce their lawfully negotiated contracts.

BOGUS GOVT BUREAUCRACIES
Reno isn’t far behind. And “their” lavish living style has
been at least as bloated.
Just about the only difference is that N. Las Vegas does
not have a Sam Dehne.
Virtually every stupid decision “they” made was challenged
by Sam at every Public Comment podium he could find.
But then very few cities do…
have a Sam Dehne: http://www.renocitizen.com/resume.htm
Sam
We so very much appreciate your comment. We thought we were alone. They keep blaming the employees with regards to their own mismangement and inadequacy. This is an attack on all unions.
