Berkley Spokesman: “Rush Limbaugh’s Water Boy Needs To Put His Money Where His Mouth Is”

It Took Seven Days For Heller to Distance Himself From Rush Limbaugh;
How Long Will It Take Him To Sign The Petition?

Las Vegas– After taking seven days to issue a (meekly worded) statement about Rush Limbaugh’s vile attacks on women, Nevada Congresswoman Shelley Berkley is giving unelected Senator Dean Heller the chance to put his money where his mouth is.  Today,  Berkley is launching a new online  petition calling on Clear Channel to pull Rush Limbaugh off the air following his disgusting and insulting remarks attacking Sandra Fluke, the

Georgetown student who stood up to fight for access to birth control.

The question is: will it take Dean Heller fewer than seven days this time to do the right thing and call for Rush Limbaugh to be pulled off the air?

Given Heller’s history: don’t hold your breath. Remember, instead of  joining the chorus on both sides of the aisle who condemned Rush Limbaugh, it took Heller a full week  to react to the GOP’s main spokesman.

It was only after Shelley Berkley finished a press conference call calling out his silence that his office reluctantly released a carefully worded statement.

But that shouldn’t come as a surprise given that Dean Heller was fulfilling Rush Limbaugh’s every wish in the United States Senate, voting to defund organizations that provide mammogram screenings like Planned Parenthood and voting for the Blunt Amendment, which would have allowed employers to deny preventative coverage that their female employees already receive — for any reason they want.

“Instead of using his appointed Senate seat to be Rush Limbaugh’s waterboy, Dean Heller should put his money where his mouth is and join me in demanding his show be kicked off the air for his outrageous comments against women,” said Eric Koch, spokesman for Berkley for Senate.  “Unfortunately, given that Heller has been acting like Rush Limbaugh’s proxy vote in the United States Senate on issues like restricting access to birth control, we’re not expecting much.”

The text of the petition is attached to this release

We the undersigned demand your company stop giving Rush Limbaugh a national megaphone with which to launch hateful attacks against women — like calling them “sluts” and “prostitutes.”

Dozens of well-respected companies have realized that associating themselves with Rush Limbaugh is bad for business. Yours should be the next.

Don’t throw your reputation away by continuing to profit from the traffic and attention Rush Limbaugh’s attacks generate — cancel his show, and his contract, today.

Shelley Berkley

On a side note, and not noted in the Berkley campaign news release, women have been putting up with this toad for more than 20 years.  We’ve had enough!  And if you don’t believe my claim of 20 years … well … watch this clip of a 1992 Phil Donahue show where Rush is a guest and they’re presenting his views on “Feminazis” … watch the expressions of disgust on the faces on the women in the audience:

    I signed Congresswoman Berkeley’s petition. I did not contribute however to the return email since I’m running myself in that Senate race. It is a clever fundraising effort. I would add Howard Stern to the petition.

    For sure this purveyor of hate speech shouldn’t be given air time on Armed Services Radio. We are going to end up with a bunch of Neo-Nazi Freicorps types indoctrinated by the right wing Ku Klux Kristians and people like Limbaugh. The man has never had anything to add to the public discourse. He is the poster boy for the GREED and HATE party, formerly known as the GOP.
