Representative Steven Horsford (NV-4) is continuing to recuperate from his recent successful cardiac surgery. Today, supervision of the Congressman’s medically-mandated recovery was transferred from Inova Heart & Vascular Institute in Fairfax, VA, to physicians in Las Vegas. The Congressman will continue his recovery under the care of cardiac specialists in Las Vegas and is expected to make a full recovery and return to work shortly.
Representative Horsford and his family extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, medical professionals, and staff at Inova Fairfax Hospital where the Congressman’s surgery was performed on July 1st. During a routine physical exam in D.C., doctors identified that Representative Horsford had an undiagnosed hereditary condition that required rapid attention and a 6-way bypass procedure.
Representative Horsford stated, “It came as quite a surprise to learn of the severity of my undiagnosed heart condition from my doctor. I came out of the surgery successfully because of the people who have been by my side. I’m so grateful to my family, neighbors, friends, and colleagues whose prayers and well wishes pulled me through. I want to especially thank my wife Sonya and medical providers who gave me the strength and confidence to face this surgery head-on and to take action toward my recovery so that I am at 100% very soon. I will be an even stronger advocate for every single person’s right to affordable, quality, integrated health care.”
