Today, Congressman Cresent Hardy and Congressman Rob Bishop of Utah are holding a House Committee on Natural Resources “field hearing” in North Las Vegas to discuss their plans to radically change federal land management policy in Southern Nevada.
State Senator Ruben Kihuen, Democratic candidate for Nevada’s 4th Congressional District, issued the following statement:
“Once again, Congressman Hardy – this time with the help of his fellow extremist Congressman Bishop – is organizing a publicity stunt to make the case for implementing his racist friend Cliven Bundy’s reckless agenda on public lands. Overwhelmingly, Nevadans across party lines understand that keeping public lands in public hands grows our state’s economy, improves our quality of life and supports outdoor recreation opportunities. The Hardy-Bundy agenda on display today at this sham hearing would open up our public lands to being privatized, restrict access for Nevadans and blow a hole in the state budget.”
Ruben Kihuen is scheduled to speak at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia on Thursday, sometime around 5pm eastern time (2pm Nevada time). If you have cable/satellite, tune in on C-SPAN to watch without all the talking head spin and interruptions.
