Clinton’s Take on the Problem with Ideology

If you don’t subscribe with a service that allows you the opportunity to watch the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, you missed a great discussion well worth the watching with Bill Clinton.  Whether you liked him as President, or not, this discussion was a wonderful explanation of what’s wrong with the ideological quagmire we find ourselves stuck in.

Both video segments (commercial-free), as well as full transcript of the conversation can also be found on Daily Kos.

Report to NSDP Central Cmtee Members

Welcome to May and just 2 days until early voting and 166 days until the General Election.

Since our Central Meeting in Carson City we have been very busy planning for the NSDP State Convention in Las Vegas June 9-10. We are expecting a lot of excitement at the convention and are excited to have Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as our keynote speaker.

In April I traveled to Charlotte, NC the site of the DNC Convention in September. We toured the convention center and areas around Charlotte. The city is preparing for a great convention. While there I also visited our assigned hotel, which is the Hilton Garden Inn just across the street from the convention center. At our DNC Executive Committee meeting the board voted to approve the Credentials Committee and Rules Committee appointments of our Chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Nevada won again as Assemblywoman Lucy Flores was appointed co-vice chair of Credentials and Assemblywoman Olivia Diaz was appointed to the Rules Committee.

I will visit Charlotte again in July for the State Chairs meeting. I will be insuring arrangements for the Nevada Delegation are in order for our visit in September.

During the past few months I have been given the honor to speak at OFA Office openings in Southern Nevada. It is great to see the excitement! I have also attended many candidate events and walked in the Helldorado parade for Shelley Berkley.

I have started having monthly conference calls with our elected Leadership Team, Vice Chair James Brown, 1st Vice Chair Theresa Navarro, Secretary Marla Turner, Treasurer Jan Churchill, Parliamentarian JoEtta Brown and Executive Director Zach Zaragoza. The Rules and Bylaws Committee worked tirelessly to write Election and Convention Rules.

The Executive Committee had a conference call to approve the Election Rules.
Thank you for all that you do to move our party forward! As always I am available to answer any questions you might have. My cell is 702.767.5332 or you can reach me via e-mail at

NSDP Convention: An Ask for Your Vote

Dear Colleagues, Friends and Fellow Delegates,

It is beginning. The time has come for multiple emails for those running for National Delegate. I am asking for your support and your vote as a National Delegate to the Democratic National Convention and here are a few reasons why.

For those in the Rural Caucus you know me through my work over the last 8 years starting with my support for Retired General Wesley K. Clark in 2004. In 2006 many of us met on the road and in the rural Counties supporting Jill Derby for Congress and when I worked as the Rural Organizer. We continued to work together in 2008 when we all worked together and were able to successfully complete 15 Rural County Early Precinct Caucuses. 94% of the rural precincts reaching over greater Nevada succeeded in their efforts. Later in the year all 15 counties successfully held County Conventions on the same day for the first time ever. Shortly thereafter we started working on the Rural web site and the rural retreat. thanks to Vickie Rock we have one of the best blogs reaching folks now around the world!

In 2010 we continued to work together for the re-election of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Walking door to door with many of you in Elko,Ely, Winnemucca, Lovelock, and Douglas county. More importantly we have worked tirelessly to effect change and grow the Rural Caucus, attending SCC meetings, Conventions, bus tour with the Senator, events with Jill Derby. We have grown the organization to the point of out numbering Washoe and Clark in attendance at recent SCC meetings. Of course we have been to many JJ, Kennedy Roosevelt Dinners and the Keep Nevada Blue Dinners over the years together.

While I have not had the opportunity to run for delegate in the past it was not for the lack of wanting to but the necessity of continuing to work in and for the rural counties instead of attending my own precincts and conventions.

I have enjoyed every minute of my work in the Rural Counties, well almost. The shot gun incident in Ely I could have done with out.

It was wonderful to see Rural Caucus Chair Claud Butler recognized as the Rural Leader and important to invite him to help greet the President of the United States.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this post and considering me for the delegate position. I promise to represent the Great State of Nevada with the same determination and hard work as we did together in the Rural Counties. Please send this on to those who would also consider supporting me for National Candidate.

Thank you and Sincerely,
Cindy Olivas Trigg
